The largest residential complex of the time of the Soviet Union in the Balkans is located in Lyulin. The residential complex is divided into ten micro-districts, which function like a city of their own. A total of over 100,000 people live in Lyulin, the largest district of the Bulgarian capital Sofia. The structures of Bulgarian society were largely shaped by small farmers. Due to urbanization and rural exodus, they kept falling apart. In Lyulin, people from different parts of the country live in a community that has not grown naturally.
